More than one million passengers have passed through the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) ahead of Christmas, with thousands more rushing to catch trips on Christmas Eve, RH Edniel Parrosa reported.
PITX reported that as of midday on December 24, around 73,326 passengers were scheduled to travel, with most of them bound for Northern Luzon, with some trips to Bicol. Several bus companies serving Bicol, Visayas, and Mindanao earlier announced the suspension of trips starting December 24.
According to PITX Corporate Affairs Officer Kolyn Calbasa, the expected passenger peak occurred on December 23, while total foot traffic from December 19 to 24 has already reached 1,022,762.
The landport said that no major delays or stranded commuters were monitored at the terminal, unlike reports from other terminals such as the Bayan-Ford Commuter Terminal (BFCT) in Marikina, where passengers experienced long waits due to slow bus turnaround from Batangas Port.
Meanwhile, PITX reminded travelers that prohibited items such as: sharp objects, lighters, and flammable materials are not allowed inside the terminal, noting that 33 prohibited items were confiscated by security personnel on December 23.
