The emergency room of the Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center will be temporarily closed from May 24 to June 1 to give way to renovation works aimed at improving safety, efficiency, and overall patient care.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso announced the temporary closure during his “Talk to the People” program, stressing that the move is necessary to ensure the safety of both patients and healthcare workers during the upgrade.

“Isang linggo lang po ang kompromiso ko at tiyak na dadaloy ang ginhawa,” Domagoso said, underscoring that the short-term disruption is intended to deliver long-term improvements in public health services.

Despite the ER closure, the hospital will continue to accept patients, who will be promptly transferred to other local government hospitals to ensure uninterrupted medical care.

City officials said the renovation forms part of Manila’s broader efforts to modernize healthcare facilities, improve service delivery, and provide safer and more comfortable environments for both patients and medical staff.

The local government assured the public that emergency health services will remain coordinated and responsive throughout the renovation period.
