After a two-year delay, construction of the Metro Manila Subway Ortigas Station officially started today, following the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to fast-track the project.

Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez and Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto led the inspection at the Ortigas Station site, where demolition of existing structures has already begun.

“Siguradong maraming komyuter ang makikinabang dito lalo na’t marami ang nagta-trabaho dito sa business district ng Ortigas,” said Secretary Lopez.

He added that the Ortigas Station will be completed within three years and become operational after an additional two years.

“Nagpapasalamat tayo kay Mayor Vico sa tulong upang mapabilis ang konstruksiyon ng proyekto dahil napakahalaga talaga nito sa mga komyuter,” Lopez explained.

Mayor Sotto also expressed gratitude to former Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon and Acting Secretary Lopez for pushing the project forward.

“Tuloy na tuloy na ang construction dito. Magsisumula na ang demolisyon, wala nang major road block,” he said.
