One student victim from the Friday Banga National High School shooting has been discharged from the hospital, announced the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Monday.
The victim was brought to home by the DSWD Field Office (FO) 12 - SOCCSKSARGEN on Sunday, September 20.
Aside from ensuring the victim was safely brought home, the social welfare agency provided financial assistance and other forms of support for his recovery from the incident.
The DSWD FO-12 continues to coordinate with the victim and his family to identify their needs and provide the necessary psychosocial support and other services they may require.
The Banga school shooting incident on Friday, September 18, claimed the lives of three students and injured eight others.
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla said the shooter was “heavily into” the “deep dark web.” Based on notes on his phone, the suspect was also struggling with depression.
His parents had found the notes back in April and tried to intervene.
“According to his phone, he left several notes dealing [with] his depression at tuloy-tuloy ito. It was discovered last April 2026 ng parents niya and the parents try to handle the situation ngunit nagkulang,” Remulla said.
