Motorists will only need one RFID sticker and one account to travel seamlessly across all expressways in Luzon, following the official launch of the “One RFID All Tollways” project by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB).
The ceremonial launch, led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., marks the integration of the two existing RFID systems — Autosweep of San Miguel Corporation (SMC) Infrastructure and EasyTrip of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC).
According to Jean T. Balas, Senior Public Utilities Regulation Officer of the TRB, the initiative aims to simplify the travel experience by removing the need for multiple RFID accounts.
“Meron pong dalawang service provider ng RFID: Ang Autosweep at EasyTrip. At itong One RFID, eto na po yung magme-merge na silang dalawa para isa na lang po yung imaintain ng motorist, para isa na lang po yung papaloadan niya. And makakadahan siya kahit sa ang expressways,” Balas explained.
How the system works
Motorists will be asked to choose between Autosweep and EasyTrip as their main provider. Once selected, the other account will be deactivated, and the unused RFID sticker will be removed by authorized personnel to avoid potential damage or confusion.
Registration may be done online or through walk-in appointments. For online registration, motorists must fill out the required form on their chosen provider’s website and supply details such as their old account number and remaining balance, which will be transferred within three to seven days after verification.
PBBM: "Simpler, faster and more convenient travel"
In his speech, President Marcos hailed the initiative as a major step toward digital transformation and transportation modernization, emphasizing that the reform will make travel across Luzon faster and more efficient.
“Simula ngayon, iisang RFID sticker na lang ang kailangan para sa mga toll expressway natin sa buong Luzon,” Marcos said.
“Ginawa nating madali, abot kamay, hassle-free ang buong proseso. Pwede nang magparehistro online o walk-in. Ang repormang ito sa RFID system ay bahagi ng mas malawak nating layunin na gawing mas moderno, konektado, at nakatuon sa pangangailangan ng bawat Pilipino ang ating imprastraktura,” the President added.
The President also thanked San Miguel Corporation Chairman Ramon S. Ang and Metro Pacific Investments Corporation Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan for their continued cooperation and support.
“This project has been made possible because of the continued trust, commitment, and flexibility of our partner concessionaires, the operators, and ETC RFID providers,” he said.
The One RFID All Tollways project seeks to reduce long queues at toll plazas, improve traffic flow, and eliminate confusion among motorists who previously needed to maintain separate RFID accounts for different expressways such as NLEX, SLEX, SCTEX, TPLEX, CALAX, and Skyway.
The DOTr and TRB reminded motorists to ensure sufficient load before traveling and encouraged those who have not yet registered to try the One RFID system for a smoother and more convenient driving experience from North to South Luzon.
