The Office of the Ombudsman on Tuesday requested a list of media personnel who were present at the Senate during May 13–14, 2026, as part of the ongoing fact-finding probe into the shooting incident at the building.

Maria Melinda Mananghaya-Henson, director of the Field Investigation Bureau of the Ombudsman, formally asked the Senate’s Public Relations and Information Bureau to provide records of journalists and media workers who entered and were present in the Senate premises during the specified dates.

In her request, the Ombudsman also sought logbook entries indicating the time of entry and exit of media personnel, if available. If the records cannot be produced, the office asked for a sworn certification explaining their unavailability.

The request forms part of the ongoing fact-finding investigation into the incident, which involved an exchange of gunfire between personnel of the Office of the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA) and alleged agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

The Ombudsman emphasized that “any documents and information to be submitted will be treated with utmost confidentiality.”

Earlier, suspended Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Mao Aplasca admitted that he fired the first shot toward NBI agents inside the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) compound, describing it as a "warning shot."

The confrontation occurred amid the Senate’s decision to place Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa under protective custody in the Senate, as he is facing an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Dela Rosa later left the Senate on May 14, hours after the incident.

Authorities continue to gather testimonies and documentation as part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting and subsequent lockdown.
