Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla has ordered the dismissal from government service of suspended Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Mao Aplasca, citing a decision signed earlier this week.

Remulla said he signed the dismissal order on Monday, removing Aplasca from his posts as acting sergeant-at-arms of the Senate and as sergeant-at-arms for the Commission on Appointments.

“Noong Monday, napirmahan ko na yung dismissal ni Mao Aplasca from the service,” Remulla said during DZRH’s Executive Session on Saturday, July 4.

“Na-dismiss na namin siya from the service,” he added.

Aplasca had been under a six-month preventive suspension without pay since May 15, 2026, after the Office of the Ombudsman cited his involvement in a May 13 gunfire incident inside the Senate.

He was permanently replaced as acting Senate sergeant-at-arms by retired Police Major General Alfredo Sotto Corpuz on June 3, 2026.

The Ombudsman said the full ruling will be made public within the week to allow the public to review the basis of the decision.

“I-rereveal namin ang decision this week para makita ng tao,” he said. “Ibibigay namin sa media, ipupublish namin.”

Remulla did not immediately disclose further details of the case but indicated that the soon-to-be-released written decision would outline the findings and basis for Aplasca’s dismissal.
