Oil price hike looms for Undas week – DOE
by Alyssandra A. Pandez24 October 2025

Fuel prices are once again expected to increase ahead of the Undas long weekend, according to the Department of Energy (DOE).

Based on the latest oil trading data, the DOE projects the following estimated price adjustments effective Tuesday, October 28:

  • Gasoline: increase of around ₱0.30 per liter

  • Diesel: increase of around ₱0.80 per liter

  • Kerosene: increase of around ₱0.80 per liter

DOE Oil Industry Management Bureau Assistant Director Rodela Romero said the projected adjustments are mainly driven by stable refinery demand, new U.S. sanctions on Russian oil companies, and the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which continues to disrupt global supply.

Romero also noted that the rising prices of oil products in the international market—estimated at 3 to 5 U.S. dollars per barrel—contributed to the expected increase.

However, she clarified that these figures do not yet include the cost of doing business for local oil companies and other related premiums.

The final price adjustments may still change depending on the outcome of the last day of trading in the global oil market this Friday.

If the projections hold, this would mark another price increase following previous rounds of upward adjustments, adding pressure to motorists ahead of the Undas travel rush.
