An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) recovering from injuries sustained in an Oct. 10 attack in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has thanked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the Philippine government for their swift response and assistance.
According to a statement released by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Thursday, the OFW, one of seven Filipinos injured in the attack, is receiving treatment at the Burn Unit of King Saud Medical City, a specialized burn treatment facility in the Saudi capital.
During a visit by DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, the OFW expressed his gratitude to the president and the government, saying his message was “nothing but thanks.”
The worker has received financial assistance through the DMW's AKSYON Fund.
Cacdac also said the DMW and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration would visit the OFW's son in General Santos City to assess his needs and determine what additional assistance he may require as a college student.
The OFW's Filipino wife, a nurse at the same hospital, continues to support him during his treatment and recovery.
The DMW, in coordination with the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh and other government agencies, continues to monitor the condition of Filipinos affected by the attack and facilitate assistance.
