The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that 13 people have died due to Typhoon Opong, while more than 2.1 million individuals across multiple regions have been affected by the combined effects of Opong, Mirasol, and Nando.

According to the latest NDRRMC update, three fatalities were confirmed in Masbate and 10 in Eastern Visayas. The figures are still undergoing validation by the Management of the Dead and Missing Cluster. Meanwhile, five fishermen earlier reported missing in Eastern Samar have safely returned to their families.

As of today, more than 23,300 families are sheltering in 1,482 evacuation centers nationwide. Relief clusters continue to replenish family food packs, ensuring evacuees have sufficient food and supplies.

The province of Masbate has declared a state of calamity due to severe damage caused by Opong. Food and non-food aid is en route to the province, while the Department of Energy has mobilized Task Force Kapatid—a coalition of electric cooperatives—to help restore power lines. Shelter materials are also being prepared, and road-clearing operations are ongoing in affected areas.

To address communication challenges, the emergency telecommunications cluster has deployed internet units to Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, and Romblon, while additional mobile facilities are being arranged for Masbate to provide temporary charging and internet access.

The Department of Education has opened select schools to serve as evacuation centers, while the health cluster has distributed medical and public health supplies to CAR, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Central Visayas, and Bicol Region.

Preliminary assessments show more than ₱822 million worth of infrastructure damage and ₱915 million in agricultural losses.

The OCDemphasized that all efforts are in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to swiftly address the needs of affected Filipinos.
