Filipino pole vault star EJ Obiena continued his strong resurgence in 2026, clearing 5.82 meters to win gold at the ISTAF 2026 meet at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany.

The victory marked Obiena’s fourth career gold medal at ISTAF Berlin and completed his sweep of the event’s indoor and outdoor titles this year.

Obiena’s latest triumph adds to an impressive 2026 campaign, with the two-time Olympian now owning nine gold medals this season as he looks to rebound from a disappointing 2025.

Earlier, Obiena secured his place at the 2027 World Athletics Championships after clearing 5.90 meters at the Diamond League’s Zurich leg in Switzerland.

The qualification capped another strong showing for Obiena, who continues to establish himself among the world’s elite pole vaulters heading into the remainder of the season.
