The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will temporarily close the northbound lane of Dimasalang Bridge in Sampaloc, Manila, beginning May 23, 2026, as part of the second phase of its major rehabilitation and repair project.

The announcement was made by Manila City Mayor Francisco Moreno Domagoso during his “Talk to the People” Facebook livestream on Thursday.

According to the city government, the DPWH North Manila District Engineering Office formally informed the mayor through a May 18 letter regarding the scheduled start of construction works for the project titled “Rehabilitation / Major Repair of Permanent Bridges – Dimasalang Bridge (B01820LZ) along Dimasalang Street (Phase II).”

The rehabilitation aims to strengthen the bridge’s structural integrity and ensure the safety and continued serviceability of the major roadway for motorists and nearby communities.

Mayor Domagoso said the DPWH targets the completion of the project by the second week of October 2026, ahead of the Undas season when large crowds are expected to visit the Manila North Cemetery.

He also acknowledged the completion of the project’s first phase involving the southbound lane, commending the DPWH for delivering the work on schedule.

“Natapos na po at natutuwa naman ako. Salamat sa DPWH, tinupad nila yung takdang araw,” Domagoso said.

Motorists are advised to monitor the official social media pages of the Manila City Government for the release of traffic rerouting and advisory plans during the rehabilitation period.
