The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has no record of former House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez leaving the country.

BI Spokesperson Dana Sandoval confirmed the information to DZRH News via phone call, RH Henry Uri reported, adding that the lawmaker made no attempts to leave the country as of 6:16 PM on Tuesday, April 21.

This comes after the Leyte representative requested a travel clearance to Singapore from April 20 to May 4, to undergo a medical check-up following his recent angioplasty procedure. The lawmaker’s request was eventually approved by House Speaker Faustino “Bojjie” Dy III through House Secretary Cheloy Grafil, RH Milky Rigonan reported.

Contrary to Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla’s remarks, Romualdez’s legal counsel, Atty. Ade Fajardo clarified that his client is not barred from leaving the country under the immigration lookout bulletin order (ILBO).
