Malacañang on Tuesday assured consumers that prices of 190 basic necessities and prime commodities will remain unchanged until December 31, 2026.
During a press briefing, Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro said the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), led by Secretary Cristina Roque, has confirmed that there will be no price increases for the products covered by the agency’s Suggested Retail Price (SRP) guidelines, in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive against price increases.
“Walang pagtaas sa presyo ng mga pangunahing bilihin at mahalagang produkto hanggang sa katapusan ng taon,” Castro said.
Castro said the price freeze covers 190 DTI-supervised basic necessities and prime commodities monitored by the agency to guide retailers and consumers.
The agency also assured the public that the supply of essential goods nationwide would not be affected.
To keep consumers informed, the official SRP bulletin will be made available in supermarkets and grocery stores nationwide. The list can also be accessed through the DTI’s official website and social media accounts.
Castro said the DTI continues to coordinate with manufacturers and retailers to monitor supply, ensure the continuous distribution of essential products, and maintain stable and affordable prices across the country.
Meanwhile, the DTI and the Department of Agriculture (DA), headed by Secretary Francisco Laurel Jr., will conduct regular joint market monitoring to ensure that prices of basic commodities in public markets remain within reasonable levels.
