The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reported that most airports under its supervision sustained no major damage from Super Typhoon Uwan, with several now resuming normal operations.
Initial inspections showed only minor damage to airport facilities, including roofs, ceilings, glass panels, and perimeter fences, CAAP said, as reported by RH Jecelle Ricafort.
Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) have been lifted for the Bicol International, Masbate, Naga, Virac, Daet, and Cauayan airports, allowing normal flight operations to resume.
Baguio Airport has also reopened; however, operations under Visual Flight Rules remain suspended due to poor visibility brought by continuing rains.
Meanwhile, six airports, including Bulan, Bacon, Sangley, Plaridel, Iba, and Subic, remain closed as clearing and safety checks are still underway.
CAAP Director General Raul Del Rosario assured the public that immediate repair and restoration works are being conducted to ensure the safe and full resumption of airport operations nationwide.
