The camp of Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa has questioned the Philippine National Police's (PNP) intensified manhunt against the lawmaker, arguing that there is no confirmed Interpol Red Notice that could serve as a basis for his arrest.
Dela Rosa's legal counsel, Atty. Israelito Torreon, raised the concern following the senator's failure to surrender within the one-week ultimatum issued by PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., RH Edniel Parrosa reported
In an interview with reporters at Camp Crame, Torreon admitted that he had no personal information regarding the alleged Interpol Red Notice but questioned the basis of the police operation.
“May na-confirm na yung isang kasama namin na wala pala siya sa listahan ng Red Notice ng Interpol. Anong magiging basehan ng PNP sa paghahanap sa kanya?” Torreon said.
He also urged the police to consider Dela Rosa's record as a former PNP chief, saying the senator had helped raise the dignity of the police organization.
