The Philippine National Police (PNP) clarified that the driver of the vehicle hit by a student who, according to the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC), jumped from the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 FPJ Station on February 11, committed no wrongdoing, as reported by RH Edniel Parrosa.

In a statement at Camp Crame, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director PBGen. Randy Glenn Silvio said the driver has been released from police custody following the initial investigation.

“Wala na-inquest na person involved at na-release driver na nakaladkad yong tumalon sa LRT platform. During the investigation kasi kapag nagbigay na tayo ng tasking, inaalam natin lahat kung ano naging cause ng accident,” Silvio said.

Silvio explained that no inquest proceedings were conducted against any individual involved in the incident. He added that as part of standard procedure, authorities initially gathered all relevant information to determine the cause of the accident before making any conclusions.

The incident drew criticism on social media after reports surfaced that the driver might be referred to the fiscal’s office for possible reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.

However, police clarified that the driver was found to have no fault in the incident based on the findings of the initial probe.
