The acting head of the Office of the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms said no CCTV footage has been found showing the movement of Senate security personnel and Philippine Marines during the shooting incident inside the Senate of the Philippines on May 13.
In an interview on DZRH’s “Dos Por Dos,” Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Mao Aplasca said a review of available footage showed only limited camera coverage from the opposing side.
“As of yesterday, pinareview ko yung mga CCTV. So wala po kaming mahanap doon sa area ng position po ng mga OSAA and Marines. Yung nakikita po natin, yung nasa dulo na po, sa buntot na po ng aming mga tactical personnel.”
Aplasca maintained that security forces fired warning shots after sensing an attempted breach.
He said personnel briefly pulled back after the initial warning shot and anticipated a possible assault due to the number of individuals they observed.
“In-expect po namin na magkakaroon po sila ng assault kasi nakita na namin na medyo marami sila. Kaya medyo nagpaputok po kami ng marami to prevent them from conducting assault,” he said.
According to Aplasca, available footage captured flashes believed to be gunfire from the direction of the opposing group, which he identified as linked to the National Bureau of Investigation.
However, he acknowledged that no visual record has so far been located showing the actions of OSAA personnel during the exchange.
When asked about circulating claims that Senator Jinggoy Estrada had suggested withholding CCTV copies, Aplasca said he had not heard of such statements and could not comment.
