The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has no record of the birth, marriage, or death of a person named “Mary Grace Piattos” in its database, a PSA official testified Monday during the 22nd day of Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial.
PSA Assistant National Statistician Marriza Grande said the agency conducted the verification at the request of the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability.
“Base sa information na ibinigay at sa aming database, wala pong record ng kapanganakan, walang record ng kasal at wala rin pong record ng kamatayan ang isang Mary Grace Piattos,” Grande told the Senate impeachment court.
Grande said the PSA, through Undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa, issued a letter and certification dated Nov. 5, 2024, addressed to the House committee through then committee chair Rep. Joel Chua.
Piattos was among the individuals listed as recipients in documents involving the confidential funds of the Office of the Vice President under Duterte.
The verification was raised during the impeachment proceedings as the prosecution presented evidence concerning the alleged use and disbursement of confidential funds under Duterte’s office.
