Actor Niño Muhlach’s driver’s license has been revoked for two years by the Land Transportation Office (LTO), following an accident along Marcos Highway, Antipolo City.

Based on an investigation and hearing on the incident, Muhlach, fatigued, lost control of his vehicle, consequently ramming into three establishments, the LTO said in a statement.

The actor was declared an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle due to Reckless Driving, resulting in the two-year revocation of his license.

“Dahil dito, napatunayang may pananagutan ang nasabing aktor sa paglabag sa Reckless Driving at idineklarang Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle, na naging batayan sa pagpapataw ng dalawang taong revocation sa kanyang lisensya sa pagmamaneho,” the LTO said.

His SUV remains under alarm status to ensure compliance with the penalty and avoid transactions involving the vehicle while the resolution is in effect.

“Seryoso ang LTO sa pagpapatupad ng batas-trapiko, lalo na sa mga paglabag na maaaring magdulot ng panganib sa ibang gumagamit ng kalsada,” LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao said.

“Ipatutupad natin ang kaukulang kaparusahan batay sa resulta ng imbestigasyon at pagdinig, anuman ang katayuan ng sangkot,” he added.

In August, Muhlach admitted to falling asleep behind the wheel.

“Due to an extremely demanding and exhausting schedule, I fell asleep behind the wheel… While fatigue overtook me, that is no excuse. Falling asleep at the wheel led directly to hitting a pedestrian and damaging nearby establishments,” he wrote in a statement shared on social media.

“I take full personal and legal responsibility for what happened. My priority right now is ensuring that the affected individual receives all necessary care, support, and medical assistance, and that all damages caused to the properties and establishment are fully compensated and rectified,” he added.
