The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has lifted the red alert status on Luzon grid originally scheduled later this afternoon after two major plants have gone back online.

As of 11:30 AM, the NGCP said the red alert status — scheduled at 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. — was officially lifted.

Red alert indicates insufficient supply which can cause outages in select areas.

The NGCP, however, noted that the Luzon Grid will remain under yellow alert status from 3 PM to 4 PM, and from 5 PM to 7 PM.

A yellow alert means that power reserves were below ideal levels.

The NGCP said the available capacity was seen at 11,750 megawatts versus the peak demand of 10,437 megawatts.
