[UPDATED] Newly appointed National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Atty. Melvin Matibag has given his personnel, aside from those directly under the director’s office, a period of two to three weeks to demonstrate their performance and accomplishments, as reported by RH Jecelle Ricafort.
Speaking to DZRH News, Matibag said he will also review the records of each staff member, which will serve as the basis for the positions they will hold within the bureau.
Currently, the new director has no immediate plans to implement a full-scale turnover of personnel across the agency.
Matibag noted that he brought only three trusted colleagues into the bureau, expressing confidence in the existing staff. However, he emphasized that any wrongdoing among personnel will not be overlooked.
The NBI chief stressed that he is a friend of the agency and should not be feared.
The former PDP-Laban secretary general under former President Rodrigo Duterte also asserted that he has no favorites or partisan biases regarding anomalies, such as those related to flood control projects.
Matibag officially assumed office during a turnover ceremony held Monday at the NBI headquarters in Pasay City.
