A new nationwide anti-corruption protest is being organized in response to alleged anomalies in government flood control projects, as reported by RH Jecelle Ricafort.

Mong Palatino, Secretary General of Bagong Alyansang Makabayan and organizer of the Baha sa Luneta rally, said the group is planning a demonstration to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power revolution on February 25.

Palatino expressed disappointment over what he called the failure to hold high-ranking government officials accountable for corruption.

He added that the work of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) is nearly complete, yet the body has reportedly not investigated the alleged delivery of kickbacks to Malacañang.

The activist also criticized this year’s national budget, claiming it still operates under a “pork barrel” system.
