A new lawmaker was appointed on Wednesday, November 12, to replace Congressman Elizaldy Co as the representative of the Ako Bicol Party-list for the 20th Congress.

Atty. Jan Almario Chan will serve as the new Ako Bicol representative, replacing Co, who resigned after being linked to the flood control controversy.

As the party-list’s third nominee, Chan is the designated replacement for Co, following confirmation by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), reported RH 12 Milky Rigonan.

In his two and a half years in Congress, Chan hopes to enact programs and laws for the good of the Filipino people. A few of his bills will encompass renewable energy, mental health, and disaster resilience and preparedness, said Ako Bicol Party-list.

“A Bicolano who cares, has a heart for service, and aims to continue the strong legacy of Ako Bicol PartyList, bringing his expertise in Renewable Energy Law, Environmental Law, and policy-making,” it said in a social media post.

Last September, Co resigned from his position due to a “real, direct, grave and imminent threat” to him and his family.
