The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has warned the public against the surge of scams during the holiday season, urging vigilance to avoid falling victim to fraud.
The NCRPO cautioned that online fraud, bogus deliveries, and fake sellers tend to increase during the Christmas rush, reminding the public not to let scams ruin the holiday festivities.
Authorities advised consumers to verify official pages, check seller histories, and read product reviews before making purchases. The NCRPO also warned against suspicious text messages and social media communications.
The police further reminded the public not to click on unknown links, to activate two-factor authentication, and to avoid sharing personal or financial information online.
The NCRPO also flagged the rise of impersonation scams, where fraudsters pose as friends, relatives, or government officials, and encouraged the public to remain alert and report suspicious activities.
