The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported that the ongoing Traslacion 2026 procession is generally manageable and under control, with no major untoward incidents reported as of Friday afternoon.
In an interview with DZRH, NCRPO spokesperson PMaj. Hazel Asilo said the police are closely monitoring the procession and crowd movements through live feeds.
“Although meron po tayong mga nakikita sa mga live feeds natin, sa mga nakikita natin po na merong siksikan pero wala naman tayong namomonitor na major untoward incidents or kung ano pa man na injuries dito sa umaattend ng prusisyon,” Asilo said.
Addressing reports of congestion around the Nazarene carriage (andas), Asilo explained that the slowdown is due to the continuous influx of devotees from various segments joining the procession.
Regarding the estimated number of attendees, Asilo said the NCRPO is tracking the crowd size closely.
“Yung po ating 8 million, ayan po yung ating datos last year. Yan po yung umattend last year. Pero sa ngayon po as of 1pm, nasa 659,500 pa lamang naman po ang ating mga deboto na nandito ngayon,” she said.
Asilo also confirmed that police have not confiscated any prohibited items, and no violations of the liquor or gun bans have been reported.
“Wala naman po tayong na-confiscate ng mga tinagbabawal based din po sa ating monitoring at sa data natin.”
“Wala naman po tayong reported na mga sumuway or lumabag po sa ating mga existing na ordinance at sa ating mga ipinaalala po sa kanila na bawal dalhin,” she added.
On the medical front, Asilo reported that, as of 12 noon, the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 361 medical incidents. The majority involved breathing difficulties, while 84 cases were due to dizziness, 19 for elevated blood pressure, 12 for sprains or muscle spasms, and two were due to fractures.
The NCRPO continues to maintain a strong presence along the procession route, ensuring the safety of devotees while upholding public order during the annual religious event.
