The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) declared the celebration of New Year’s Eve as peaceful.

NCRPO Spokesperson PMaj. Hazel Asino told DZRH that there were no recorded untoward incidents in NCR, reported RH Jecelle Ricafort.

In its last report, Regional Director PMGen. Anthony Aberin said that there was still one case of indiscriminate firing in the region, specifically one involving a police officer in Parañaque City who is now facing administrative and criminal charges.

Meanwhile, a 13-year-old girl was injured after being hit by a five-star firework in Barangay 184, Pasay City. The girl sustained injuries to her thigh and was immediately brought to the nearest hospital.

There is a total ban on the use of firecrackers in the said city, according to authorities. However, this did not stop some residents from setting off fireworks during the New Year’s celebration until early this morning.

Barangay officials and police have been reprimanding residents who continue to defy the ban and refuse to comply.
