The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) clarified that shouting calls for President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. to resign, including carrying placards reading “BBM Resign,” will not be prohibited during the 40th anniversary of the People Power Revolution.

In a press briefing at Camp Crame, NCRPO spokesperson PMaj. Hazel Asilo said police will respect freedom of expression and the right to peaceful assembly. However, she warned that participants may face charges if there are acts inciting the overthrow of the government or encouraging the destruction of property, such as arson.

Asilo emphasized that security forces are on heightened alert ahead of the scheduled protests marking the EDSA anniversary, with police deployment focused on maintaining peace and public safety while allowing lawful dissent.

Authorities recalled that in previous protests, some organizers of the United People’s Initiative faced inciting to sedition complaints after allegedly urging members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to withdraw support from the government.

Meanwhile, police confirmed that no rally permit has been approved for pro-Duterte groups planning a caravan on Wednesday, noting that their activity is not centered in a single venue such as the People Power Monument in Quezon City. The NCRPO said authorities will continue to monitor all activities to ensure they remain peaceful and within the bounds of the law.
