The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has been placed on heightened alert in preparation for the start of Simbang Gabi, with more than 14,000 police personnel set to be deployed across Metro Manila.
RH Jecelle Ricafort reported, NCRPO spokesperson Police Major Hazel Asilo said in DZRH News that the deployment will cover churches and surrounding roads from evening until the early hours of the morning throughout the traditional dawn masses.
Asilo noted that police visibility will be strengthened through intensified foot and mobile patrols. Assistance desks will also be set up in malls, transportation terminals, and major transit hubs, including LRT and MRT stations, to help ensure public safety during the holiday season.
The NCRPO has likewise reinforced its intelligence monitoring efforts to prevent crimes such as theft and other security incidents commonly reported during the Christmas period.
Authorities are advising the public to remain vigilant, especially in crowded areas and during peak hours, as large numbers of worshippers and commuters are expected during Simbang Gabi.
The NCRPO assured the public that all necessary measures are in place to maintain peace and order as Filipinos observe the annual Christmas tradition.
