The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will be placed under “full alert“ starting 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, as part of security preparations for the country’s 128th Independence Day commemoration.
In a report by RH Jecelle Ricafort, NCRPO spokesperson Major Hazel Asilo told DZRH News, the heightened alert status is aimed at ensuring a secure and orderly observance of Independence Day activities across Metro Manila.
More than 8,000 police personnel will be deployed throughout the National Capital Region (NCR) to secure major gathering areas and prevent any untoward incidents during public events.
She said key security coverage areas include Rizal Park, the Bonifacio Monument, and the Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine, which are expected to host large Independence Day commemorations.
Police forces will also be stationed in major transport hubs and along primary road networks across Metro Manila as part of a broader security and traffic management plan.
Asilo added that command-and-control systems, along with emergency response assets, have been activated to enable rapid deployment of personnel when necessary.
Earlier in the day, NCRPO Chief PMGen. Anthony Aberin (PMGen. Anthony Aberin) visited the Senate grounds and confirmed additional police deployments in key government and diplomatic areas.
Aberin said security personnel will be reinforced in and around the Senate of the Philippines, Malacañang Palace, the United States Embassy in Manila, the House of Representatives of the Philippines, and other strategic locations.
He also listed additional deployment sites including the EDSA Shrine, Liwasang Bonifacio, Plaza Miranda, and the Quirino Grandstand, as well as areas surrounding embassies and government centers.
“Whether may threat o hindi, palagi pong handa yung NCRPO, sa anumang pwedeng mangyari” Aberin said, emphasizing that security measures will remain heightened throughout the Independence Day period.
On public assemblies, Aberin noted that as of Thursday morning, no permits for rallies had been reported or approved.
He added that authorities will continue to observe “maximum tolerance,” allowing citizens to express their views as long as they comply with laws and regulations.
“Pababayaan natin ang mga kababayan na magpahayag ng kanilang mga saloobin at damdamin. But of course, with the agreement na dapat sumunod sila sa mga pinapairal na regulasyon at policies at saka sumunod sila sa batas,” he noted.
