The country’s two premier collegiate leagues, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), have announced the postponement of their scheduled games this week due to the inclement weather brought by Typhoon Uwan (international name Fung-wong).
The NCAA called off its Tuesday, November 11, doubleheader at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City after Malacañang suspended classes and government work in the National Capital Region for November 10–11 as a precaution against the strong typhoon, which made landfall in Dinalungan, Aurora on Sunday night.
The postponed NCAA games were supposed to feature the highly anticipated rivalry match between San Beda and Letran at 2:30 p.m., following the 11 a.m. clash between Lyceum and league-leading Perpetual Help—both crucial in the race for outright quarterfinal slots.
Meanwhile, the UAAP also announced the postponement of all high school volleyball games set for Tuesday, November 11, citing the same weather-related concerns.
In its official statement, the league said: “All high school volleyball games scheduled on Tuesday, November 11 are postponed to a later date. Please wait for further announcements. Please stay safe.”
Both leagues emphasized that the safety of student-athletes, coaches, and fans remains their top priority, with rescheduled game dates to be announced once weather conditions improve and safety is assured.
