The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is tracking down the co-accused of former House Speaker Martin Romualdez in connection with the alleged P7.4-billion flood control kickback case.

Based on Jecelle Ricafort's report, NBI Director Atty. Melvin Matibag told DZRH News that two divisions of the bureau, including its Special Action Unit, are already working to locate the accused.

The NBI is also coordinating with the Bureau of Immigration to determine whether the two private individuals charged alongside Romualdez have left the country.

They were identified as Romualdez staff member Joselyn Serenio and Felecito Guevarra, president of Samchan Foreign Exchange Corporation. The two are facing charges along with former lawmaker Zaldy Co, who reportedly left the Philippines in July 2025.

Matibag said none of the accused has sent feelers indicating an intention to surrender.

The Sandiganbayan Third Division issued arrest warrants against the four accused on Monday, hours after the Office of the Ombudsman filed the case in connection with the alleged P7.4-billion flood control kickbacks.

Romualdez is currently confined at Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City due to an alleged cardiovascular ailment and unstable blood pressure following an anxiety attack.

Meanwhile, the Department of the Interior and Local Government earlier said Co is believed to be hiding in France.
