The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will submit its findings on alleged discrepancies in Vice President Sara Duterte’s declared properties in her Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) to the Office of the Ombudsman for further investigation.
NBI Director Melvin Matibag said the bureau would endorse its findings, contained in several boxes of documents, to the Ombudsman for further investigation.
The referral focuses on an agricultural property declared by Duterte in Barangay Catigan, Davao City, with a reported value of ₱890,000. The property allegedly contains a resort and mansion estimated to be worth between ₱40 million and ₱61 million.
Matibag previously said the NBI was also examining a possible money laundering angle involving the properties of Duterte and her brother, Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte.
He said investigators had identified a pattern in the affidavit of Rodulfo Gracioso Jr. concerning the alleged laundering or concealment of money.
Gracioso accused Vice President Duterte of receiving more than ₱2 billion, while former president Rodrigo Duterte allegedly received ₱1 billion and Paolo Duterte ₱100 million, supposedly upon the instructions of former House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco.
The allegations remain subject to investigation. The NBI’s referral to the Ombudsman is intended to facilitate further inquiry into the reported property discrepancies and related claims.
