The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is set to file complaints this week against individuals allegedly involved in the disposal of dead dogs and cats in an open lot in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, according to the report of DZRH's Jecelle Ricafort.
In an interview with DZRH, NBI Director Atty. Melvin Matibag said the respondents could face multiple charges, including estafa, violations of consumer protection laws, and environmental laws.
Matibag said the bureau is expected to elevate its referral to the Department of Justice (DOJ) either Thursday or Friday for preliminary investigation.
The complaints will be based on the accounts of 25 complainants who have confirmed that the recovered remains belonged to their deceased pets.
The NBI chief also assured the public that the investigation would continue, including efforts to meet with the pet crematorium in Bacoor, Cavite, allegedly involved in the improper disposal of the animal remains instead of cremating them as promised.
Meanwhile, Bacoor City Mayor Strike Revilla has ordered the closure of Ahjay Paws Aftercare Pet Crematorium following complaints filed by around 250 individuals at the Bacoor Police Station.
