The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has affirmed that it will proceed with the arrest of Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa following the Department of Justice’s directive allowing the enforcement of an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant.
NBI Director Atty. Melvin Matibag stated that the bureau will carry out the order of Justice Secretary Frederick Vida without delay, emphasizing that law enforcement agencies are expected to implement legal processes strictly and without fear or favor.
Matibag underscored that the NBI’s position has remained consistent from the start, maintaining that the senator is subject to arrest under the ICC warrant related to investigations on the Duterte administration’s anti-drug campaign.
He also noted that with the Supreme Court having dismissed the request for a Temporary Restraining Order, legal obstacles to the warrant’s implementation have been removed, allowing authorities to proceed with enforcement actions.
While the exact timing of operations has not been disclosed, the NBI confirmed that it remains prepared to initiate a manhunt for the senator in coordination with relevant agencies.
