The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has summoned former House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco and his wife, Rowena Velasco, to appear before the bureau on October 5 in connection with allegations raised by Velasco’s former security chief, Rodulfo M. Gracioso Jr.
The NBI also invited Vice President Sara Duterte and Davao City First District Representative Paolo Duterte to provide information as part of its ongoing investigation into Gracioso’s sworn statement.
In a letter dated September 30, NBI Director Melvin Matibag said the bureau is conducting an official investigation into the allegations raised by Gracioso.
The NBI said the invited individuals’ knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the matter could help the bureau in its inquiry.
“Your valuable insights will greatly assist this Bureau in ensuring a fair, thorough, and impartial process,” Matibag said in the letter.
The bureau attached a copy of Gracioso’s sworn statement to the invitation for the congressman’s reference and perusal.
The individuals were asked to attend a conference at 10 a.m. on October 5 at the NBI office at Filinvest Cyberzone Bay City along Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard in Pasay City.
The NBI said those invited may be accompanied by legal counsel or designated representatives and may bring relevant documents, records or statements that could help clarify the issues under investigation.
The bureau also said the schedule may be adjusted if it conflicts with their official duties.
