The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confiscated over ₱761,000 worth of counterfeit Korean skincare products in a series of coordinated raids across Manila and Bulacan, intensifying efforts against the illegal cosmetics trade.

The operation, conducted on March 12, targeted retail stores in Binondo, Manila, and a warehouse in Marilao, Bulacan, following a formal complaint over the widespread distribution of fake items bearing the trademark of the Korean skincare brand Beauty of Joseon.

Operatives from the NBI-National Capital Region, with support from the Intellectual Property Rights Division, served multiple search warrants during the crackdown.

Authorities seized a total of 846 counterfeit serum products with an estimated market value of ₱761,400. The items were found to be unauthorized imitations of the popular skincare brand, raising concerns over consumer safety and intellectual property violations.

The NBI said criminal charges for trademark infringement under the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines will be filed against the individuals and business owners involved.

NBI Director Melvin A. Matibag emphasized that beyond economic losses, counterfeit skincare products may contain harmful and unregulated ingredients that pose serious health risks, including allergic reactions and skin damage.

The bureau urged the public to remain vigilant and purchase only from authorized sellers, reaffirming its commitment to protect both consumers and legitimate businesses from the dangers of counterfeit goods.
