The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has asked the Supreme Court (SC) to disbar former Negros Oriental congressman Jacinto "Jing" Paras and four lawyers allegedly involved in an attempt to orchestrate a sex scandal against Executive Secretary Ralph Recto.

The NBI-National Capital Region confirmed to DZRH News that the disbarment case also covers lawyers Ruy Rondain, Orlando Mendiola, Patrick Criaga, and Josemilio Manuel Apostol, according to report of RH Jecelle Ricafort on DZRH.

The five allegedly prepared the scripts and affidavits of four female talents who were supposedly hired as part of an effort to discredit Recto.

The NBI had earlier recommended to the Department of Justice (DOJ) that Paras, Rondain, Mendiola, Criaga, Apostol, Batangas 1st District Rep. Leandro Leviste, and talent manager Lito de Guzman face qualified human trafficking charges over the alleged scheme.

NBI Director Atty. Melvin Matibag said the evidence against those implicated in the alleged character assassination plot is clear.

Paras, Leviste, and the four lawyers have denied the allegations.
