The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has recommended the filing of charges with the Department of Justice (DOJ) against 12 officials and contractors of Genesis88 Construction Inc. over alleged irregularities involving P7 billion worth of flood control contracts in the congressional district of Davao City Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte.
NBI Director Atty. Melvin Matibag said the bureau recommended possible violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act against the individuals, whose identities were not disclosed.
Matibag said the recommendation was based on the bureau’s examination of four out of 47 flood control projects endorsed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Genesis88 Construction Inc. is a construction firm whose owner, Glenn Escandor, has been linked to the Duterte family.
Matibag previously said Escandor had been a longtime friend of the Duterte family. Escandor also reportedly donated P19.92 million to the 2022 vice presidential campaign of Sara Duterte.
