The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is ready to accommodate Vice President Sara Duterte should she decide to undergo a lie detector test amid allegations raised by Rodolfo Gracioso Jr., NBI Director Melvin Matibag said.
Matibag said the bureau is prepared to accommodate the vice president at any time, although he admitted he could not confirm whether Duterte would follow through on her reported willingness to take the test.
“Hindi ko naman alam kung totoo ’yon kasi kung gusto mo talaga magpa-lie detector test, andito naman. NBI will always be here and will always accommodate any time of the day or any day of the week,” Matibag said.
Gracioso, a former security aide of former House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco, had challenged Duterte to take a lie detector test over his allegations that she received more than ₱2 billion.
He also alleged that former President Rodrigo Duterte received ₱1 billion and Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte received ₱100 million, supposedly upon the instructions of the former House Speaker.
Duterte has reportedly submitted an affidavit to the NBI containing her response to the allegations. Gracioso has also faced the possibility of a perjury complaint if investigators establish that his statements were false.
Meanwhile, the NBI is investigating a possible money laundering angle as it examines the assets of the vice president and her brother, Paolo Duterte.
The allegations remain subject to investigation, and no finding of wrongdoing has been established based on the information provided.
