The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is investigating 26 additional flood control projects suspected of irregularities across the country, NBI Director Atty. Melvin Matibag said.

In a report by RH Jecelle Ricafort, nine of the projects under investigation are being handled by the NBI Southeastern Mindanao Regional Office, followed by seven under the Bulacan District Office and five under the Cebu District Office.

The bureau’s Fraud and Financial Crimes Division is examining two projects, while one each is being investigated by the Bulacan South District Office, Bayombong District Office, and Calabarzon office.

These cases are separate from the 47 flood control projects previously investigated in Davao City, including projects involving Genesis88 Construction, which reportedly secured around ₱7 billion in flood control contracts in the district of Rep. Paolo Duterte.

The NBI has referred four cases to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for possible violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act. Seventeen cases have already been filed, while nine others are undergoing DOJ evaluation.

Among those previously recommended for prosecution are resigned congressman Zaldy Co, former senator Bong Revilla, Senator Jinggoy Estrada, former Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan, Senator Joel Villanueva, and contractor Curlee Discaya.
