The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) may subpoena or invite the congressman, reportedly the owner of a farm in San Pablo, Laguna, following information wanted fugitive Atong Ang may be hiding in the property, according to a report by RH Jecelle Ricafort in Operation Tulong.

NBI spokesperson Palmer Mallari told DZRH News, the lawmaker will only be summoned if necessary for further verification of information received by the bureau.

Mallari said currently, the information indicating that the congressman owns the farm, previously visited by the NBI but where Ang was not found is being processed and evaluated.

He emphasized that the bureau’s manhunt operations are not limited to the properties and businesses of the gaming tycoon.

The NBI also has not dismissed the possibility that Ang could be hiding in his owned exclusive subdivisions, as claimed by whistleblower Julie ‘Dondon’ Patidongan.

Mallari added that the bureau remains confident that the businessman, alleged mastermind behind the disappearance of several cockfighters, has not left the country.

On January 16, the Philippine National Police - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) has launched a 24/7 nationwide hotline to hasten the capture of Ang, who is wanted for kidnapping and homicide in connection with the missing “sabungeros” or cockfight enthusiasts case.
