The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is investigating whether the alleged "threat" against Ramil Madriaga, who claimed to have been Vice President Sara Duterte’s "bagman," is connected to impeachment complaints filed against the Vice President.

According to a report by RH Jecelle Ricafort, NBI Director Atty. Melvin Matibag told DZRH News that the bureau is examining all angles in the investigation he ordered.

He added that several agents have already been deployed to Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City to monitor Madriaga’s security.

However, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) stated that there is currently "no threat" to Madriaga’s life in the facility.

Earlier, Madriaga’s camp claimed that someone allegedly offered up to P1 billion to prevent him from testifying against the Vice President.

Rumors in the prison also suggested a reward of up to P5 million for anyone who would kill him inside his cell.

On Wednesday, Duterte filed a perjury complaint against Madriaga over what she described as malicious and baseless allegations.

Madriaga previously insisted that he acted as the Vice President’s bagman, who handled drug money during her election campaign in 2022.
