The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said it has obtained information on the whereabouts of Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa, nearly a week after he left the Senate following a shooting incident inside the Senate building.

NBI Director Melvin Matibag confirmed the development during the Manila City Hall Reporters’ Association (MACHRA) Monthly News Forum on Tuesday, May 19, saying the agency is now aware of the senator’s possible location.

“Mahirap naman po mag-announce na nandiririto siya kasi people try to speculate,” Matibag said.

“Marami pong lead na binigay, but we have a lead kung nasaan talaga pero in the meantime we will suspend ‘yong announcement kung nasaan talaga siya.”

However, Matibag declined to provide further details, citing the need to protect the ongoing investigation and avoid compromising operational efforts.

Authorities have not disclosed additional information regarding Dela Rosa’s departure from the Senate or his current status, as the probe into the incident continues.

“Galing siya sa law enforcement… it's better na harapin niya ‘yung warrant niya, mag-submit siya. Harapin niya ‘yung kanyang pananagutan sa batas,” Matibag said.

The NBI has been conducting follow-up measures in connection with the case.
