The National Bureau of Investigation arrested a female suspect in Tanay, Rizal, for alleged qualified theft and Estafa involving hundreds of thousands of pesos in unpaid tax obligations and overbilling transactions.

According to the NBI–Rizal District Office (NBI-RIZDO), the case originated from a complaint filed by the president of Crowne Pacer Development Corp. (CPDC), where the suspect reportedly worked as a liaison officer handling Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) submissions and tax payments.

Authorities said that from August 2023 to March 2026, the suspect allegedly billed the company amounts higher than the actual tax obligations. Investigators also discovered several unpaid taxes and undocumented submissions despite claims that payments had already been processed.

The complaint further stated that in March 2026, the suspect informed the company that she had supposedly advanced payment for the firm’s tax obligations to avoid penalties for late filing. She allegedly demanded reimbursement amounting to Php289,391.01 and repeatedly followed up for the payment.

However, an investigation conducted by NBI-RIZDO revealed that no tax payments for the said amount covering March and April 2026 were made to the Bureau of Internal Revenue, based on certification from BIR Revenue District Office 46.

Following the discovery, NBI operatives conducted an entrapment operation at the CPDC office. The suspect was arrested in flagrante delicto after allegedly receiving marked money and signing a voucher for the reimbursement she had been demanding.

The arrested individual was subsequently presented for inquest proceedings before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Rizal for alleged violations of Article 310 or Qualified Theft, as well as Estafa under the Revised Penal Code.
