The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested 15 individuals during an anti-cybercrime operation targeting an alleged cryptocurrency investment scam operating in Mandaluyong City on May 9, 2026.

According to the NBI Dangerous Drugs Division (NBI-DDD), agents implemented a Warrant to Search, Seize, and Examine Computer Data (WSSECD) in coordination with the NBI Digital Forensic Laboratory Division and the Philippine Air Force Intelligence Unit after receiving intelligence reports on fraudulent online investment activities linked to an alias known as “Boss Choi.”

Authorities said suspects were allegedly operating inside a condominium unit, using a spoofed website to lure victims into cryptocurrency investments.

During the operation, law enforcement arrested 15 individuals who were reportedly found actively using desktop computers at the time of the raid. The group includes one Chinese national, one Malaysian national, 12 Filipino men, and one Filipino woman.

Multiple computer devices were seized and subjected to on-site digital forensic examination, which reportedly revealed data linked to alleged cyber fraud operations involving computer-related forgery and social engineering schemes.

The NBI said evidence suggests the existence of an organized scamming network engaged in large-scale cyber fraud.

The arrested individuals were brought for inquest proceedings for violations of Republic Act No. 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, including offenses related to computer-related forgery, misuse of devices, and aiding or abetting cybercrime activities.

Authorities said further investigation is ongoing to identify additional members of the alleged syndicate and trace possible victims of the investment scam.
