More than 115,000 job vacancies will be offered in the government’s nationwide Labor Day job fair on May 1, 2026, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said.

According to DOLE at least 1,280 local employers are expected to join the event, with 115,358 job openings across various industries. He said the figures are still preliminary and may increase in the coming days.

As of April 23, DOLE regional offices have identified 88 job fair sites nationwide.

In an interview with DZRH’s Dos Por Dos, Patriwirawan urged job seekers to prepare their requirements ahead of the event, including updated resumes, training certificates, diplomas, and other proof of education or skills.

He said these documents are essential for applicants seeking employment during the simultaneous nationwide hiring activity.

Among the available positions are sales clerks with about 12,000 vacancies, production operators with 11,300, carpenters, foremen and steelmen with 8,500 openings, customer service representatives with 5,600, and service crew or barista positions with 4,900.

When asked about job availability for higher positions, Patriwirawan said managerial posts are also included depending on company requirements, noting that employers set their own hiring needs and qualifications.

He also addressed concerns on job security and immediate employment, saying some applicants may be hired on the spot depending on the position and completion of recruitment steps during the fair.

“Yung mga hired-on-the-spot, ito po yung mga binabantayan natin,” he said, noting that immediate hiring depends on the company’s process and the applicant’s submitted documents.

“May mga posisyon na talagang on that spot makikita na nila ito maaaring na itong higher spot based doon sa document na sinubmit niya. So yung mga ganitong klase ng mga pagkakataon po, talagang binibigyan natin ng oportunidad sa mga kababayan natin.”

For applicants who may need additional skills training, Patriwirawan said DOLE works with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) under a “near-hire” system. Candidates identified as needing further training may be endorsed to TESDA for skills upgrading.

He also encouraged job seekers to explore online listings ahead of the event through the government’s job portal, noting that vacancies for the Labor Day job fair can be accessed through PhilJobNetgov.us.
