National Police Commission (Napolcom) Commissioner Rafael Vicente Calinisan warned criminology interns on Saturday that violating traffic rules, including riding motorcycles without helmets, could disqualify them from pursuing a career in the police service.
In a Facebook post, Calinisan urged the public to take photos of criminology interns caught violating traffic regulations and submit the reports to Napolcom for identification and appropriate action.
He said the commission would not process the applications of those identified as violators for police service or entertain them in Napolcom examinations.
Calinisan also called on criminology schools to help screen students who disregard the law, stressing the need for reforms in the training and education of aspiring police officers.
He urged schools to improve their curricula and ensure they do not operate as “diploma mills,” emphasizing that producing responsible and law-abiding police officers is part of the country's nation-building efforts.
“Salain ang dapat salain. Ayusin ang curriculum. Wag diploma mill. Nationbuilding is everyone's responsibility,” Calinisan said.
He encouraged the public to tag Napolcom in social media posts or send reports through private messages, adding that the commission would compile and process the submissions.
