The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 will experience power interruptions starting Monday, August 24, due to scheduled preventive maintenance on the terminal’s electrical equipment.

In an advisory on Sunday, the New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation (NNIC) said each power interruption is expected to last about 10 minutes and will take place at the following times:

  • August 24 — 11:30 p.m.
  • August 25 — 4 a.m. and 11:30 p.m.
  • August 26 — 4 a.m.

According to the NNIC, backup power will be available for critical systems. However, some facilities and services at Terminal 1 may be temporarily affected during the interruptions.

The scheduled activity is part of the airport’s regular preventive maintenance program aimed at keeping NAIA’s electrical systems in good operating condition and reducing the risk of unexpected disruptions.

Airport teams will be deployed on-site to minimize the impact of the interruptions on passengers and airport operations.

The NNIC also appealed to passengers for their understanding and cooperation during the maintenance activities.

The airport operator earlier announced that NAIA will have a new dedicated substation, which is expected to be connected to the power grid by December this year.
