The New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation (NNIC) assured the public that operations at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) remain stable despite the influx of travelers this holiday season.

In an interview with DZRH, NNIC General Manager Angelito Alvarez emphasized that recent airport upgrades over the past year have significantly improved passenger flow and system efficiency, especially during peak travel periods.

These enhancements include the rollout of new biometric immigration e-gates, upgraded passenger processing systems, and expanded passenger spaces in Terminal 3, such as additional food halls and waiting areas.

Alvarez also highlighted the critical role of close coordination between government agencies and private-sector stakeholders in managing the surge of passengers, particularly in areas like air traffic flow, immigration processing, ground handling, and terminal operations.

The General Manager further explained that the airport’s performance depends on multiple entities working as a single system, especially during peak travel periods, Alvarez said.

NAIA expects a five-percent increase in passenger traffic this holiday season, with around 2.55 million Filipinos passing through the airport.
